CHEWING BUBBLE GUM BLACK
I remember when gum stuck on the sidewalk would be beige, or pink, or orange colored ( at least some of it). But in 2012, in the coastal Southern California town of Santa Barbara, all the gum in this photo is blackish, dark gray, or jet black. The black has to come from air born black soot particles falling upon the gum and turning the gum black, and no waiting around. Yes?
AIR POLLUTION KILLS!
SMOG IS, AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN A POISONOUS GAS...! SO IS THE SOOT, THE ASBESTOS, THE HEAVY METALS, ETC.

Santa Barbara Banana Tree Leafs Have Bizarre Coloration
The bizarre coloration looks like chemical burns. The tree sits next a cement path in an area that gets enormous amounts of traffic pollution, roadway dust, and, weekly, the path gets blasted by 240 mph. columns of air from a power blower whose nozzle is only inches above the cement which often has dark patches of toxic gray and black roadway dust.
